Coaching Staff

Zach Salchli

Head Coach 2005 and 2006 Girls

Coach Salchli is the Head Coach of the 2005 and 2006 Girls teams as well as serving as the Founder and Executive Director of the club. Coach Salchli has long background of developing soccer players. As the Head Coach at Greenwood High School, Coach Salchli helped lead the team to 2 Regional Championships and 2 Elite 8 finishes at the State Tournament in the last three years. During the 2018 season, Coach Salchli was named the Kentucky High School Girls' Soccer Coach of the Year and the United Soccer Coaches South Region High School Coach of the Year. In addition, one of his players was named Kentucky Girls' High School Player of the Year during the same season.

Coach Salchli is the current Director of Mighty Kicks Southern KY, a soccer enrichment program for ages 2-5 that teaches the game of soccer to more than 200 preschoolers a year in Bowling Green and surrounding communities. Coach Salchli's education background also includes 8 years as an elementary school teacher where he was named the 2010 Teacher of the Year in the Advance Baton Rouge Charter Association.

Coach Salchli is actively involved in soccer and ministry throughout the state. Serving as the President of the Kentucky High School Girls' Soccer Coaches Association, Coach Salchli helps represent coaches across the state in issues relating to high school athletics. In addition, Coach Salchli serves as a Staff Coach for the Kentucky Olympic Development Program. Coach Salchli was named the 2015 Southern Kentucky Referee's Association Coach of the Year and was named the 2016 Greenwood High School Coach of the Year. Coach Salchli is a regular volunteer with Curbside Ministries helping to minister to the refugee population in Bowling Green.

Coach Salchli holds the National Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches with a Distinguished Pass and is enrolled to complete his Advance National Diploma this year. He also holds National licenses from the USSF and is Double-Goal Certified with the Positive Coaching Alliance. Coach Salchli holds his M. Ed in Learning and Instruction from Vanderbilt University and works as an elementary school teacher in Bowling Green. He currently serves as the Director of Student Athlete Development for the Western Kentucky University Women's Soccer Program.

Zac Lechler

Head Coach 2003/2004 Girls

Coach Zac Lechler was born in Fairfield, California, and was raised coast to coast in his military family. He graduated from Edgewood High School (IN) in 2010 and attended Defiance College (OH) where he earned a B.S. in Athletic Training with a minor in Wellness and Corporate Fitness in 2014. He then continued his education at WKU (KY) where he earned his M.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Physiology in 2016.


Coach Lechler started playing soccer at age four. As a player, he has enjoyed many team and individual successes at the high school, club and collegiate levels, including conference, state and regional championships, and tournament play at the national and international level. His love of the game prompted him to join and support the WKU Lady Hilltoppers as a practice player for the 2014-15 spring season and assist at the WKU Hilltopper Soccer Academy in 2015.

Coach Lechler began his coaching career in 2015, coaching at the club and high school levels in Bowling Green, KY. He has been the girls' junior varsity head coach and assistant varsity coach at Greenwood High School since 2015. Coach Lechler has also coached the Drakes Creek Middle School girls' soccer team since its inaugural season in 2017. He has also been a head coach for several seasons at Mighty Kicks, a youth soccer program for 2-6 year olds designed to help develop motor and life skills. Coach Lechler currently holds his National E Coaching License from the U.S. Soccer Federation and looks forward to continuing his coaching education.


Coach Lechler is currently a Licensed Athletic Trainer and a youth fitness coach during the off season. He has a special interest in injury prevention and management in athletes. Coach Lechler is passionate about coaching the fundamentals of soccer, and furthering the development of life-skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and respect. He is excited to be one of the first coaches for the 2003/2004 girls select team at Kentucky Ambassadors Soccer Club.
